Role Summary

Component Apprentice
 
This role supports the safe service, inspection, repair, and maintenance of helicopter components under the supervision of qualified aircraft maintenance professionals. The primary objective is to develop the technical skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience required to achieve company authorization to independently release maintenance work. All tasks are performed in strict compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including Transport Canada regulations and Heli-One’s Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM).
 
This position is currently based at our Delta facility. Please note that the role will relocate to the South Terminal area of YVR in Richmond, BC by end of December 2026 as part of a planned facility transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including disassembling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling dynamic components under supervision.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are properly documented in the logbook, and all work meets approved OEM, company and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct inspections of components for defects, corrosion, or wear and ensure the airworthiness of the item before it is released, under supervision.
  • Proactively learn from senior technicians, read and understand technical manuals/blueprints, and acquire technical skills.
  • Properly select, use, and maintain tools, and ensure they are returned to their designated places.
  • Assist with maintaining a tidy, safe workshop environment.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

  • Legally be able to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or PR Card holder).
  • Strong working knowledge of computer programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a good command of technical English language found written in manuals.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 35lbs.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a Transport Canada-approved or equivalent aviation maintenance program is highly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of aircraft systems, mechanics, and tools is expected.
  • Successful candidates will need to pass Controlled Goods Security Program.

Working conditions:

  • Indoors.
  • Initial tasks often include dirty or basic work, such as sealant removal, cleaning parts, sweeping, and taking out trash. 
  • Work involves working with greases and oils, chemicals, and high-noise environments at times, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
