Role Summary

The role will report directly to the Accountable Manager. The Safety & Compliance Manager is responsible for leading the business unit's safety management and regulatory compliance programs.

This role will also report to the CHC global Director of Safety and Risk Management to ensure company standardization.

By leading the safety and compliance department, you must give safety and compliance advice to the local management team and the corporate organization.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance duties:

  • Liaise with customers and vendors on quality matters
  • Liaise with the regulator on safety and compliance matters
  • Responsible for the organization’s quality audit program
  • Ensure that issues affecting quality are investigated, tracked, and monitored
  • Ensure findings are monitored and that corrective and preventive actions are completed
  • Influence the business to address quality and product safety issues
  • Ensure compliance with the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Monitor all pertinent proactive and reactive safety reports and, where necessary, ensure appropriate support to deliver follow-up action is taken.
  • Manage the certification authorities (MCA) by policies and procedures
  • Ensure that Reports are submitted to the regulatory authorities as required.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and updating of the SMS database

Regulatory Compliance duties:

  • Responsible to the Accountable Manager for safety
  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and regulatory authorities
  • Ensure that compliance documentation and certificates meet regulatory requirements and business needs
  • Ensure that the quality audit plan covers all activities under the scope of approval of the organization and escalates issues that require management intervention

Health, Environment, Safety and Security duties:

  • Support HESS compliance and ensure safety promotion & legislative requirements are met
  • Monitor and oversee the Emergency Response Plan

May include other duties as required

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in an operational environment
  • Accredited training in aviation safety management disciplines
  • University degree or aviation trade in a technical discipline
  • Incident investigator qualification
  • Lead auditor qualification
  • Possess or have held professional aviation accreditations such as pilot licenses, maintenance engineer licenses, responsible person approval from an NCAA Essential
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Working knowledge of quality tools and ICAO Annex 19
  • Knowledge of regulations applicable to the organization
  • Experience as part of or leading an incident investigation
  • Demonstrated experience in the rotary wing environment
  • Demonstrated experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management
  • Experienced with Safety Management Systems
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office software suite
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a focus on the delivery of safety
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to participate and deliver outcomes within a team of aviation professionals
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills with big-picture thinking.
