Role Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Manager will oversee all HR functions within the organization, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws. The ideal candidate will serve as a strategic partner to leadership, fostering a positive work culture that aligns with the company’s mission, values, and objectives. In the dynamic aviation industry, the HR Manager will ensure a skilled, compliant, and motivated workforce that supports safety, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. 

 

The HR Manager is part of the local management team, working closely with line management and reports to Director Human Resources. 

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition: 

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain top aviation talent, including pilots, maintenance engineers, and ground support staff.
  • Manage the full-cycle hiring process, including job postings, interviews, offers, and onboarding, with a focus on regulatory and technical requirements for aviation roles.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and ensure timely hiring in line with operational requirements.

Employee Relations and Engagement: 

  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by promoting open communication and conflict resolution among diverse teams.
  • Act as a mediator for employee concerns, grievances, or disciplinary actions while ensuring fairness, compliance, and adherence to aviation safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives that enhance morale, retention, and performance within a high-pressure aviation environment.

Labour Relations and Union Management: 

  • Act as the bridge between management and unions, and participate in negotiations with unions as well as regular meetings in support of department managers
  • Ensure compliance with collective labour agreements, grievance procedures, and labour laws 
  • Collaborate with leadership to address labour disputes, resolve grievances, and maintain positive relationships with union representatives.
  • Monitor adherence to collective agreements and update company policies and practices to reflect negotiated terms.

Performance Management: 

  • Coach Managers and team leads on providing constructive feedback, setting performance benchmarks, and conducting evaluations as needed.
  • Monitor employee progress and recommend solutions to improve performance and compliance with company

Compensation and Benefits Administration: 

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies
  • Research and recommend competitive compensation structures to attract and retain top talent.
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with labor agreements and contracts.

Policy Development and Compliance: 

  • Develop and update HR policies and procedures to align with industry regulations, safety standards, and labor

HR Systems and Reporting: 

  • Utilise HR technology, including HRIS systems, to ensure efficient operations and record-keeping
  • Prepare and analyse HR metrics (e.g., turnover rates, time-to-hire, employee satisfaction) to drive informed decision-making.
  • Oversee accurate and confidential employee record maintenance in line with GDPR.

Other roles and responsibilities 

  • Ensure compliance with regards to statutory reporting 
  • Address workplace safety, employee absenteeism, follow-up on sick leave and health issues 
  • Follow up the IA agreement 
  • Participate in local AMU
  • Support meetings with insurance and pension brokers as required

Support managers in conflicts resolving and improve overall workplace moral  

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR management or a senior HR role, preferably in the aviation industry. 
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices. 
  • Proficiency with HR systems and tools (e.g., HRIS, payroll, etc). 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity. 
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree 
  • Experience in the aviation industry.
