Role Summary

CHC Helicopter has an opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist in the Engines team. This position is responsible for utilizing formal supply chain processes and relevant tools to secure material and repair services in support of internal / external customers and operations. Accountable for defining internal needs, analyzing the supply market, and developing and implementing sourcing strategies. The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for identifying alternate sources, design for purpose and developing novel strategies and creating sound business cases to support their recommendations for lowest cost to support highest quality.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Support category manager in gathering data for supply market analysis and cost modeling activities
  • Responsible for conducting spend analytics to support Category Manager
  • Analyze and manipulate multiple data streams to support sourcing strategy development; able to look across categories to ensure the full “global” opportunity is addressed
  • Routinely identify new sourcing approaches including utilization of alternative part numbers, repair schemes, surplus markets and new sources
  • Support in the execution of RFX’s including event setup, supplier engagement activities and bid analysis
  • Support in the implementation of new contracts including price book development and setup
  • Lead negotiation and execution of Tier 2 contacts
  • Collaborate with Category Managers to identify and assess new sourcing projects (including the development of potential savings opportunities)
  • Create and manage price books
  • Manage relationships with Tier 2 suppliers including management of performance targets
  • Collect and analyze KPIs to support in the execution of supplier management program
  • Category-wide planning and development of aircraft component staggering plans with suppliers, maintenance, and end user
  • Lead and develop a team of supply chain planning, sourcing and purchasing individual contributors
  • Support Maintenance and Regional Operations by ensuring the right parts and services are delivered on-time and at the lowest total cost
  • Expedite critical repair and new part orders to support aircraft return to service requirements
  • Tracking of cost saving initiatives
  • Provide oversight to relevant category leads for the purchase of aircraft components and consumables
  • Provide guidance/support for the expediting of critical repair and new part orders to support aircraft return to service requirements
  • Expected to manage multiple projects depending on company initiatives and direction given by the Director or VP of Supply Chain
  • Motivate and inspire team members by creating an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort 

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes


  • Undergraduate degree required; Supply Chain or Business focus preferred as well as Engineering



  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience i.e. logistics, supply chain, accounting, economics, financial analysis 
  • Aviation background and understand Engines
  • Proven background in reading teardown reports
  • Experience in concepts such as build for purpose
  • Supply chain / Logistics management experience within a global environment preferred

    • Flexibility in work time due geographical coverage
    • Ability to travel (<10%)
    • Strong Business English, French is a plus
