Role Summary

As a global leader in helicopter transportation and repair, CHC has decades of experience in quickly mobilizing custom solutions anywhere in the world, including some of the most distant and challenging locations both on and offshore. CHC provides offshore transport on six continents and operates one of the most extensive search and rescue (SAR) networks in the world with aircraft protecting offshore oil and gas workers in the North Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, both sides of the Indian Ocean and the Timor Sea. CHC also provides around-the-clock rapid response capabilities for a variety of government and private customers throughout the world.

 

We currently have an opportunity for a Staff Accountant, reporting to the Corporate Controller. The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing the duties of the general accounting function. This position ensures the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, perform various analytical procedures, manage month-end close and provide support for the Corporate Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting for the helicopter repair and overhaul business, including supporting the period-end close activity and required reporting/analysis
• Assist with inventory / cost accounting
• Assist with deferred revenue accounting and analysis
• Prepare intercompany billings and reconciliations
• Assist with project accounting for helicopter repair and overhaul
• Assist with fixed asset accounting
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items for owned accounts
• Interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations
• Assist in preparation of documents and provide support for the annual financial audit

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Essential:
o Bachelor degree in Accounting, CPA is a plus
o 5+ years’ experience in accounting (in addition to education requirement)
o Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and US GAAP
o Familiarity with financial accounting statements
o Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process

 

Desirable:
o Experience with Infor M3 general ledger system
o International accounting experience
o Maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) accounting (any industry)
o IFRS accounting experience

• Detail-oriented, organized, and focused on quality
• Ability to interact internal staff at all levels (e.g., Managers, VPs, and sr. executives)
• Must be proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Must be independent and able to work in a team-based environment to meet monthly deadlines and goals
• Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and problem solving skills
• Willing to work the hours necessary to enable the business to meet required deadlines
• Ability to manage several time-sensitive activities simultaneously
• Ability to identify and help drive process improvement initiatives
